Measuring Quantitative Reasoning Skills in High School

Quant Q

STEM high schools often administer the Quant Q to seniors prior to graduation to document individual and group proficiency in quantitative reasoning skills. As part of their admissions process, some selective Math and Science magnet schools also use the Quant Q for an assessment of quantitative reasoning (numeracy) in pre-high school age students.

The Quant Q is geared toward individuals with strength in math and science, not those who find mathematical reasoning difficult. For college-bound high school students interested in mathematics, statistics, the physical and biological sciences, engineering, finance, economics, computer science, and architecture, the Quant Q can be predictive of potential success.

No specific test prep is needed before taking the Quant-Q beyond the students’ normal mathematics and general education.
